Spring is here, and for those of us in The Tulsa area it means enjoying the great outdoors. Whether you enjoy the sights and sounds of Mayfest, the always top notch Rooster Days parade, or even a nice relaxing hike along one of the many trails in and around Tulsa there is no shortage of fun in the sun awaiting us this spring.

Spring is also a common time to develop heel pain. Here are 5 tips to keep you moving without pain this spring:

1) Wear good supportive shoes with heel cushioning. Avoid flexible soft shoes and flip flops.
2) Avoid barefoot walking.
3) Properly stretch the Achilles tendon at the back of the heel
4) Maintain a healthy weight
5) When starting any type of exercise program, increase your time and intensity gradually.

If you start to experience heel pain, make an appointment with any of our 9 Tulsa area foot and ankle specialists.
